This link Has a lot of pictures of a Danish Wind farm in the Sea. The scope of this project is amazing! I know of no such undertakings in the US, and I think this will eventually be detrimental to our "way of life".
Australia is also stepping on board with plans to build the worlds largest solar farm

I'll tell you what this
I'll tell you what this is...this country has one tool...a hammer. Thus every problem looks like a nail.
Other countries can't just take what they want so they are forced to look for more peaceful solutions to their problems.
Right now, the US could be taking steps to make itself enery self sufficient. We have the riches to do this. In the future? Doubtful. As we cross over the oil production peak, this countries fortunes will decline. Thus, the longer we wait, the deeper the hole gets.
People in this country are too priviledged. They actually believe that the world owes them something for being Americans. They believe this so much that they think that the US can go right ahead using 1/3 of worlds resources and only have 1/11th of the worlds population.
People in this country are going to be rudely disabused of this notion by mother nature herself.

I was poking around Wiki and stumbled upon this corporate headquarters.
This building is an autonomous building. "An autonomous building is a building designed to be operated independently from infrastructural support services such as the electric power grid, municipal water systems, sewage treatment systems, storm drains, communication services, and in some cases public roads."
Now I do feel that corporations are inherently immoral, and I feel the the banking system is beyond evil, however this certainly does put a petunia in a pile of feces. If we had more buildings like these we would be ahead of the curve.
My dream home is a decommissioned nuclear silo turned into an autonomous building on the edges of the Boundary waters...with a secret passage to the hollow earth and my private gold mine...
